Euro-Share Posting Policy & FAQ Euro-Share is a community of 1579 subscribers. Like any successful community there must be a common set of rules or guidelines for everyone to abide by, for the good of everyone. This page lists the Euro-Share posting policy, which you are expected to adhere to at all times while participating in Euro-Share discussions. How to Post To post a message to Euro-Share, simply address an e-mail to euro-share@euro-share.net and type your message. Please remember to choose a subject line that's relevant (and not too long). Please also read and understand the Posting Policy outlined below. If you are having difficulties, or have any comments to make on Euro-Share then please don't send them to the posting address, instead write to The Moderator at moderator@euro-share.net. Posting Policy Signature lines are encouraged - they're a great promotional tool, but they will be mercilessly truncated after 6 lines (counted from the line after you sign your name). If you are continuing a thread, please keep the same or similar subject line to aid compilation of the Digest editions and archives. If you post to Euro-Share by hitting the reply button, DO NOT include the entire message you are replying to in your message. Digest subscribers, remember to change the subject to something meaningful - if I have to hunt around to find what the original subject was, your post won't be approved. Only quote those parts of a previous message that are relevant to your reply, and not the entire message complete with Euro-Share headers etc. Posting a message to Euro-Share does not guarantee it will be used. Please do not write and ask why your's wasn't. This is particularly true in times of high list traffic, when the Moderator may withold posts of interest until a later date. The Moderator reserves the right to refuse or edit posts as desired in order to keep the list on-topic, flame-free and free from subject matter designed to offend or annoy. The Moderators decision is final in these matters and no correspondance will be entered into regarding these decisions. Please take a moment to think about what you're posting before you hit the SEND button. The Moderator processes posts strictly in the order they come in, so if you change your mind about something and re-post it - the chances are your first one will have gone out before The Moderator even sees the second! Personal introductions to the list are more than welcome, but please no blatent advertising. There are adveritisng opportunities, if you are interested write to The Moderator at moderator@euro-share.net and ask for a rate card. In the unlikely event you wish to stop receiving Euro-Share, send a blank e-mail to help@euro-share.net and follow the instructions that are returned to you. YOU MUST KNOW WHICH E-MAIL ADDRESS YOU USED TO SUBSCRIBE WITH IN ORDER TO LEAVE! If you are having trouble unsubscribing, changing format or have any other problems with receiving Euro-Share then please write to The Moderator at moderator@euro-share.net and politely explain what the problem is. The Moderator will be only to pleased to help. The Moderator will not be very pleased to help people who are rude, abusive, or think sending back to the list every edition of Euro-Share they receive fifteen times will somehow magically unsubscribe them. It won't. If you're new to Euro-Share, or have been subscribed a while and not posted - introduce yourself! Just say hello, tell us what your interest in shareware is, and any wacky (or otherwise) ideas you have to share. We're a friendly bunch and Euro-Share is guaranteed FLAME-FREE. No question is too small! If you like Euro-Share, tell a friend or two. You're welcome to forward on posts or Digest editions to friends or colleagues so long as you leave them 100% unedited. Large scale republishing is strictly prohibited and will subject you to legal proceedings for breech of copyright. Got a lot to say, too long for a post to the list? Write an article for inclusion on the Euro-Share web site Featured Articles section. You get free sponsorship (that means your banner and a big plug) on the pages your article occupies for your trouble - and good karma too. Write to The Moderator with your idea. Want to get hold of the list of subscribers? Wanna spam the list (many have tried, all have failed)? Huh, do you? Too bad - the subscriber list isn't available - ever - period. The list server software used won't ever give it up - and neither will The Moderator. You can't extract e-mail addresses from the Archives either, because they're not in there. OUT OF OFFICE REPLIES ARE BAD! Of late there have been a lot of subscribers setting "out of office" messages on their mail software that automatically sends "hey buddy, I'm in Barbados - back in 5 years!" messages or "I'm too busy to read this" and similar. These really clog up the list and spoil The Moderator's good mood when he has to fish them all out manually. The Moderator usually unsubscribes folks after a couple of days of this - so please turn them off, or unsubscribe for the duration of your absence. * Temporary unsubscriptions. Following on from above, if you know you're going to be away for a few days or more then send a message to moderator@euro-share.net and state:
Listserver Commands To unsubscribe from Euro-Share, or change your format between List or Digest mode you need to send commands to the Euro-Share Listserver. This is a very simple procedure which involves no more than sending one e-mail, as desribed below. Address your e-mail to listserv@euro-share.net and write one of these commands on the first line, followed by the address you are subscribed with. To unsubscribe and stop receiving Euro-Share.
To change from LIST mode (1 posting per e-mail) to DIGEST mode (10 postings per e-mail)
To change from DIGEST mode (10 postings per e-mail) to LIST mode (1 posting per e-mail)
NOTE: You MUST give the address that you originally subscribed to Euro-Share with otherwise your command will fail. |
